My mom and i are trying to convince my dad that we should get a wireless router for our internet?

i recently bought a mac book, and it came with a "wifi" printer, so i'm uming i need to connect to the internet wirelessly to use it with my laptop? also, my mom's laptop seems to prefer a wireless connection (it will randomly stop recognizing the ethernet cable) and i have an ipod touch now that is mostly a brick because i can't use the majority of it in the house. i'm looking at the cisco valet plus, and it seems alright, but i was looking for help. our house is about ... eek... 180??? feet long? at the most, and it's a ranch, so it's like, one long hallway with rooms on either side. we have computers at each end of the house, but my end has no internet cords, so i can't do squat. is this the best router? or would another be better?
