Silly question but have to ask, do people realize that when?

It's easier to step back and see things objectively when you don't have the emotional investment... if somebody chopped off a finger I'd try to help them in a heartbeat, but if it was my mother's finger, I'd probably make things worse. Eh, I'm not telling you anything you didn't already know, but I will say this: we all understand.
