Why did Apple make such a big deal of the switch to Intel?

I mean, hadn't PCs been on Intel processors for years? Then, all of a sudden, when they come to Macs, they are an "innovation" and "revolutionary". Now, that they have been on Intel for years, Apple is charging MORE for their shitty computers. I think its total BS.
